Description | after installing the SATA driver (gigabyte) SIL 3112 my system crashes when starting speedfan. After removing the driver SIL3112 speedfan works 100 %. | ||||

As you have already noticed, the issue is in the SIL drivers. No application can make WinXP crash. Only a badly written driver. SIL drivers are badly written :-( |

I confirm this trouble on Asus A7N8X-E deluxe with SIL3112. How do you do to remove SIL3112 driver ? Is WinXP stable without SIL3112 driver ? |

In the past I heard that updating the SIL driver fixed this issue. At the very least, you can run SpeedFan with the following command line switch: /NOSMARTSCAN |
