Did you enter CONFIGURE / ADVANCED and change PWM MODE? It's in the help file, if you need further reference. |
Yes, I entered advanced section and changed PWM mode, I tried reverse PWM, too. The problem is present only on CPU_FAN and CPU_OPT headers (4-pin). I have two other fans, connected to CHA_FAN1 and CHA_FAN2 headers (4-pin, too), and I can control their speeds. I didn't tried the other connectors, CHA_FAN3 (4-pin) and CHA_FAN4 (3-pin). All four fans are from Noctua, and worked very well with SpeedFan on my previous board (ASUS M3A78-T). |
Maybe I can try a possible workaround of the problem, connecting the CPU fans to CHA_FAN3 and/or CHA_FAN4 headers, but I think I'll get a BIOS low CPU fan speed warning... |
I assume you are using the correct type of fan (4-pin, I guess) on that header. Right? Can the BIOS control that fan speed? I mean: are you sure that it can be controlled? |
My fans are 3-pin types. I can confirm that current mainboard BIOS (initial release - v0402) cannot control fan speeds if connected via 3-pin to the CPU_FAN and CPU_OPT 4-pin headers, but it's able to manage the chassis headers. The strange thing is that the same fans worked without problems with my previous board (ASUS M3A78-T) that had the same CPU fan header type (4-pin). Maybe the M3A78-T was able to manage CPU fan header either in voltage control mode and PWM mode... By the way, the Sabertooth 990FX features a lot of temperature sensors, located in different sections of the board. Seems that the only way to read them (with the exclusion of Core and CPU) is to install the ASUS AiSuite II tool, but I can't get it to work... At startup I always get an APPCRASH. A lot of users reported several install/run issues related to the suite... |
If you use a 4-wire fan this issue will be gone. Feel free to open a new one about the temperature readings. When you have opened it, use the UPLOAD FILE to upload DEBUG.NFO file from SpeedFan's directory and the output of a SEND REPORT (INFO tab). |
