Summary0001829: Not able to control fans in Vista or 7
DescriptionThis is my first time posting here so I'll try to describe what's happening the best I can. In Windows Vista and 7 whenever I try to change my fans speed manually they will go up to their set speed for a few seconds but then they will go back down to the default 40%. I have also tried to set it up so Speedfan automatically controls the fans but they stay at 40% until the CPU temp is very high, sometimes even 75c. These problems however do not happen at all in Windows XP as I am able to control the fans perfectly.
Steps To ReproduceTrying to run Speedfan on any OS higher than Windows XP fails to control fans.

If SpeedFan is setting fan speeds to 40% it means that you configured it to do so and my suggestion is to carefully check the configuration. If, on the other hand, it is another software that is changing fan speeds, you should understand which one is doing it.

The last two times I tried to use speedfan in Windows 7 or Vista it was on a fresh install of the OS and a fresh install of Speedfan. Even without configuring it at all it still sets the fans to 40% after I try to change them. There are also no other programs running that would be controlling the fans.
