Summary | 0001803: Drives missing from S.M.A.R.T. tab
Description | Two HDs (Samsung HD103SI and W-D WD1600JD-22HBB) had been visible but not now. I think the event was suppressing the UAC prompt at SF startup using "sdbinst". See "How to disable the User Account Control Prompt for a certain application only" at http://blog.tiensivu.com/aaron/archives/1426-How-to-disable-the-User-Account-Control-Prompt-for-a-certain-application-only.html I also used that process to suppress the UAC prompt for MyDefrag.

Today, I verified the SpeedFan S.M.A.R.T. problem by uninstalling and re-installing. The product entry is marked in Programs and Features as "(Remove only)", and, after the UAC prompt, S.M.A.R.T. works with the drives listed. After the sdbinst process the second entry appears, as “SpeedFan”, the UAC prompt is gone, and the drives are gone from the S.M.A.R.T. tab. |
