Did you enter CONFIGURE / ADVANCED and set PWM MODE to MANUAL? |
Under the Winbond W83667HG only the "PWM 3 mode" has the manual option. PWM type should be PWM output even if voltage fan is installed? |
Now i can change the PWM mode 1,2 and 3 to "Manual" but can't control the voltage fan at the cpu connector (he runs at full speed with PWM output and DC output). CHA 1 and 2 work well. (see attached screenshot) |

It depends on the circuitry on the board. Basically, you should use a 4-wire fan. It will work on your hardware. |
summary: CPU-FAN: only controllable with PWM fan connected Sys-FAN: ALL (!) fans connected to CPU/Sys/Aux are controlled Aux-FAN: no effect to any fan sorry, but this issue is not solved |
Why do you believe it's not solved? The motherboard manufacturer uses certain hardware to provide fan controlling capabilities. Speedfan can you use this hardware and customize the control. But if the hardware is not able to control a 3pin fan on the CPU_FAN header, then Speedfan can't control it either. Asus (motherboards/hardware) simply does not support 3pin fan control on CPU_FAN or PWR_FAN. There is nothing Speedfan can do about it. |
@last_seconds If you set all PWM MODEs to MANUAL and change SPEED02, all fan speeds change at the same time? |
@norman02us it's ok, that no voltage-fan at the CPU-connector and the PWR-FAN can't be controlled but it should be possible to control the sys-fan and aux-fan... @alfredo my settings are: PWM 1 mode - Manual* PWM 2 mode - Manual* PWM 3 mode - Manual* If i change the speed of "Chip: Winbond W83667HG Sensor: Sys" the following fans change there speeds at the same time to the same rpms: Chip: Winbond W83667HG Sensor: Aux1 Fan Chip: Winbond W83667HG Sensor: Sys Fan Changing the speed of "Chip: Winbond W83667HG Sensor: Aux" doesn't effect speed of any fan. |
That can be normal on Asus boards as well. Asus ususally wires all SYS_FANs together (in your case probably SYS_FAN and AUX_FAN). Therefore they are all provided with the same voltage and controlled simultaneously. Asus has done that on all boards since the P965 chipsets (maybe even earlier). If I remember correctly, they are all controlled by Speed02. |
@last_seconds Is there any evidence that the fans can be controlled in any other way (not together)? Did you ask Asus? |
Hi there, i got the same "issue". Motherboard is a ANUS Maximus II Formula (W83667HG). Connectors: 1 CPU_FAN (PWM), 3 x Chassis, 3 x Aux, 1x Power. All three fans are connected to the chassis fan adapter so it is correct that all are controlled at the same time. The RPM is shown correctly but the naming is wrong. One fan is listed as "Sys Fan". The two others as "Aux1 Fan" and "Aux2_Fan". Note: It is _not_ possible to control any of the chassis or aux fans seperatly. As far as i am informed this is neither possible with the original ANUS software (Fan Xpert) or with any other software. I hope this information helps. I can also provide additional information (debug, etc.) to help you fix this issue. Thanks for your great software and the effort you put in it. A lot of people on the internet appreciate your work! |
