Summary0001716: suddenly lost ALL fan-speed control !
Descriptionactually sf 4.42 stable, just upgraded from 4.41 stable ... selection not available above.

sf is out of control for the first time since 2007. three days ago noticed hat ans wern;t running at 100% (which is where i want/need them) and there was ZERO controlability !!! sf will change speeds itself (seti/boinc on<->off) but NOTHING i could do would control the fans.

all three .cfg files exist ... but any/every change i attempt is dropped on the floor. i am logged in on an administrator account and sf is in the startup folder, as it has been for 3+ years.
Steps To Reproducereboot b0x.
Additional Informationcan i manually edit the .cfg files to reflect my needs?

You could try the latest beta too. I'm working on it and it would be easier for me to fix.

i replied to email ...as for the beta .. sure, i;ll give it a try ... and also recognize that 4.41 had been JustFine (tm) until 3 days ago and i have not done any updates. nor will i until i can regain fan/temp control. about a week ago (when speedfan was still under my control) i installed and then removed bitzipper. never ran it though. i;ll get the beta now.

4.43 beta 4 installed and running .. no change; no speed control. with seti/boinc on<->off sf does change speeds itself but ther is no manual control at all, either 'manually controlled' or 'always full' withe r 'remember' box checked..

Do you remember if previously you had to change FAN ZONE/MODE to change fan speeds using SpeedFan?

i didn;t -have- to use the advanced stuff, just kicking up the % number on the front page worked perfectly. but sf alwyas started at a low %% so i poked arond until i found the fan zone/mode page w/options.

The report you sent was configured "on REMOTE auto". Could you send me a report set to manual?

i would love to send a report with 'manual' set .. but sf -refuses- to accept that!

There is a remote possibility that something in the hardware monitor chip got stuck. A power off would help.

By the way, I see that FAN ZONES/MODE are "remembered":

Old sensor properly detected -->
  DME1737 on Intel SMBus @ $2E
PROP FAN3 zone/mode (18) = on REMOTE auto
on REMOTE auto is valid for FAN3 zone/mode
PROP FAN1 zone/mode (16) = on REMOTE auto
on REMOTE auto is valid for FAN1 zone/mode
PROP FAN2 zone/mode (17) = on REMOTE auto
on REMOTE auto is valid for FAN2 zone/mode

Make sure you set and "remember" the correct options there.

bak ... strange .. fan 1 is quasi-controllable ... 100%= 4100 rpm, 97%= 2145 rpm but kicking up from 97% to 100% .. gets fan1 to 4100 rpm. oh,well, it;s controllable. however, fan2 seems controllalble from 1720rpm down/up to 300 rpm but i -think- fan2 max rpm is about 2200 rpm (iirc).

It changes the frequency used for PWM control.
