Summary | 0001680: Speedfan cannot control Case fan speed on Asus M4A88T-M/USB3
Description | The Asus M4A88T-M/USB3 micro-ATX board has a single 4 pin CPU fan header plus a single 3 pin case fan header. Speedfan finds the fan controllers at: IT8712F-J at $290 on ISA However after disabling Asus "Q-Fan" in the BIOS and setting PWM 1 and PWM 2 modes to "Software controlled" in Speedfan configuration, only the CPU fan responds to software control. The case fan runs at 100% (Speedfan can measure the fan speed) at all times.
Steps To Reproduce | Hardware: Asus M4A88T-M/USB3 motherboard Software: Windows XP SP3 BIOS: Under "Hardware" Set Asus "Q-Fan" to "Disabled".

Hi I have the same motherboard and i think that i have the same issue. The chassis fan is uncontrollable. Is there a way to help you solve this issue ? I am myself a developer in multiple languages, maybe you could help you. Don't hesitate to contact me. |

What is the setting/display in the Asus M4A88T-M/USB3 HW monitor setting/display? Does the CPU/Chassis fan speed shown? |
|
I installed the latest beta and i tried all the possible configurations. I managed only to control the CPU fan through the PWM 1. The CPU fan can be fully by speedfan (stop, low speed to high speed) even better than with the QFan function. All the others PWM are not responding with the "software control" setting. Is there something more that i should try to investigate this issue ? For information, i am under windows seven. |

I have a similar issue on ASRock 870 Extreme3. I can control all fan headers but one. CPU and 2 chassis fans respond properly, third chassis fan is on 100% all the time. It is FAN1 of Winbond W83677HG-I at $290 ISA (labeled Sensor: Sys Fan) that does not respond. It does not respond neither on Manual mode nor on any of the other modes (SmartGuarduan III and IV, Fan Speed and Thermal Cruise). EDIT: okay, I know why I have my problem. On previous MB there was an option in SpeedFan to change the PWM type. Not possible on new MB. Therefore 3pin fan connected to 4pin header is on 100% all the time. |
