Summary | 0001372: Speedfan does not show the Fans nor allow any fan control
Description | Speedfan shows the CPU and GPU temperatures fine, and I assume they are accurate. However on the Fans tab there are no Fans listed to be controlled. I believe that Dell uses a proprietary Nvidia i590 motherboard in this machine. If there is anything that you may want me to run on the machine to help you get data I will. The Nvidia Software Tools do control the fans, but not the GPU. I have to use Rivatuner for that. Nvidia Software Tools are buggy though, and if you set the CPU fan speed, which is actually the System fan speed, to say 33% it spins to 100% and you cannot set a new setting unless you restart the system. Very annoying. Dell has written their own thermal control software now, but it only works for their latest models, it has no support for their previous (i.e. just 2 years old) models. If Speedfan would include support I think it would do many, many users a great service :-)
