Summary | 0001286: System Crash (bluescreen) on Startup.
Description | After clean install of 4.35, start caused long delay, system freeze, then a bluescreen. Crashdump reveals fault in iaStor (Intel ICH10R raid driver). MODULE_NAME: iaStor FAULTING_MODULE: 804d7000 nt DEBUG_FLR_IMAGE_TIMESTAMP: 4883d53b CURRENT_IRQL: 2 FAULTING_IP: iaStor+3c163 ba66e163 0fb65034 movzx edx, byte ptr [eax+34h] CUSTOMER_CRASH_COUNT: 1 BUGCHECK_STR: 0xD1 LAST_CONTROL_TRANSFER: from ba66f104 to ba66e163 STACK_TEXT: WARNING: Stack unwind information not available. After crash, system hangs during boot, and will not boot normally. Rebooted using 'last known profile'. Tried speedfan.exe /NOGIVEIO, but fanspeed was unable to start, producing a dialog box Runtime error 217 at 004D72E0 OK?
Steps To Reproduce | speedfan.exe /NOGIVEIO -> error 217. Unwilling to retry install and blue screen withotu a specific request from you as it causes a RAID drive array rebuild which takes hours and degrades system performance. Will do this for you, at request, if it helps resolve problem.
Additional Information | System is based on AsusP5Q-Deluze mobehrboard running XP-Pro SP3, with Intel E9450 quad core CPU and 4 GB RAM. SATA controlelrs include Intel ICH10R (6 ports), and Marvell 88SE6121 IDE/SATA/eSata controller with Silicon Imate SIL5734 port replicator. Marvell & Sil controllers have no drives attached, ICH10R has a for drive RAID 10 array on ports 1-4 and a SATA DVD-RW on port 6. Motherboard has 5 fan ports (CHA1-3, CPU & PWR Supply) all are in use by fans that report speed controls. P5Q supports ASUS's QFAN fan speed controlls in BIOS, which are currently active, and ASUS's AI software that is supposed to conmtrol fans, but does so poorly.

After the Blue-Screen crash the the debug.nfo file was reported as 3KB in size, but contained no visible data. It might have been lost in the subsequent crash due to a failed disk buffer flush. After I restarted the system using 'last known good config' and reran SpeedFan, the Debug.nfo file was reported as being 1KB and contained 3 lines: 10/30/2008 12:55:34 PM - DEBUG FILE INITIALIZED 10/30/2008 12:55:34 PM - About to create SMBIOSExplorer object 10/30/2008 12:55:34 PM - SMBIOSExplorer object created -- Brad |
