Did you ask Asus to know if this motherboard can change fan speeds? If it can, and you were unable to, enter CONFIGURE / ADVANCED and set PWM MODE to MANUAL, SOFTWARE CONTROLLED or something similar. Usually this does the trick. If you still can't, make sure that you are using the right (3-wire or 4-wire) fan. |
In most cases it is necessary to disable Q-Fan completely in the BIOS to get control with Speedfan. Also, if you have a 3pin Fan attached to the 4pin CPU_FAN header, that sometimes blocks fan control. |
Yes, I have a 3pin fan. I think this is the problem. I will try to get a 4pin fan. Thxs. |
You don't have to get a 4pin fan for your CPU cooler. Just attach the 3pin fan to a CHA_FAN header on the board. Then you can control 2 chassis fans and your CPU fan with Speedfan. |
I have tested to attach my fan to CPU_FAN, PWR_FAN and CHA_FAN. I only can see the speed when I connect it to CPU_FAN but I cannot change it. I have selected in Advanced options all PWM mode as "Manual PWM Control" and all PWM types as "PWM Output". I have also disabled the Power Management in the BIOS. I have tested with another computer with the same motherboard and with a 4pin fan and the speed can be changed. |

I just took a look at your motherboard manual and it seems that fan control capabilities of this board are VERY limited. As you confirmed, a 4pin PWM fan should be controllable on the CPU_FAN header. Since there is no "DC" or "Voltage" option mentioned for CPU_FAN, I assume that 3pin fans cannot be controlled there. Also, the manual states that CHA_FAN1 can be read. So if a 3pin fan is attached here, you should be able to see rpm. Since there is no Q-Fan option for this header in the BIOS, it probably cannot be controlled. You can test the 3pin on CHA_FAN1 anyway, but I don't think you will be successful. This limitation is not due to Speedfan, but to Asus. |
Yes I also think it is a motherboard limitation. Perhaps could be solved by a BIOS update. If not, I might test this: http://www.arctic-cooling.com/fans2.php?idx=109 |

Scythe also offers PWM fans with their Scythe Kama PWM: http://www.scythe-eu.com/en/products/fans/kama-pwm.html |

A lot of thanks for all your answers. |
