Summary | 0001022: Beta 34 caused BSOD 0x0000000a | ||||
Description | Because of other ongoing issues with my PC, I've got the Microsoft Verifier enabled on most third-part dll files. Anyways, I logged onto Windows with startup items disabled (shift+ctrl held down during logon). Logged off, then logged on again letting everything startup. A few seconds later, windows BSOD'ed with 0x0000000a (0x8057e77e, 0x000000ff, 0x00000008, 0x8057e77e) and irql_not_less_or_equal. I ran the kernel memory dump through the Microsoft debugger and found the following: 3: kd> !analyze -v ******************************************************************************* * * * Bugcheck Analysis * * * ******************************************************************************* IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a) An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually caused by drivers using improper addresses. If a kernel debugger is available get the stack backtrace. Arguments: Arg1: 8057e77e, memory referenced Arg2: 000000ff, IRQL Arg3: 00000008, bitfield : bit 0 : value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation bit 3 : value 0 = not an execute operation, 1 = execute operation (only on chips which support this level of status) Arg4: 8057e77e, address which referenced memory Debugging Details: ------------------ Page 1d550 not present in the dump file. Which is your hardware? I see that this bug occurs on random occasions. Do you have any hint about what's causing it? You can run SpeedFan with some features disabled and see it the bug is still there. Try the following command line switches: /NONVIDIAI2C /NOSMARTSCAN and let me know. I assume that you are currently not using any command line switch. |
My hardware is, well you should already have it from the reporting function I've sent in before ;-). Asus P5K Deluxe/WiFi Bios 0404 Intel Core2Quad Q6600 2.4Ghz (NOT oc'ed) Corsair Dominator TWIN2X2048-8500C5D 2GB Kit DDR2-1066 Silverstone SST-ST60F 600W PNY VCG8600GXPB 8600GT E-MU 0404 RAID1 - Intel Matrix RAID 2x 74GB WD's Raptors RAID5 - 3ware 9650SE-4LPML 3x 500GB WD's On other reboots I tried the same steps as before (logging on/off/on again), yet it never caused a crash, so it's obviously not reproducible easily. I'll try those CLI options. |
heh, the day I took off the /NONVIDIAI2C switch, I got another 0x0000000a BSOD right on a clean startup. |
I spoke too soon. Put back the /NONVIDIAI2C switch, reinstalled the nVidia driver and upon a fresh reboot, another 0x0000000a BSOD. |
Beta 4.34 build 36 still causes this issue. |
All of these issues can probably be discarded. Once I upgraded the bios on my asus p5k deluxe to 0705, it fixed some memory/cpu issues. haven't had any problems since. |
The latest beta needs to access some upper memory to access nvidia data. The BIOS upgrade memory access fix makes sense. |
