Summary0001015: Can't control fan speed
DescriptionI can't control Noctua NH-U12F CPU Cooler (Fan have 3 pins) fan speed connected to CPUFAN1. Is it Fintek F71882F sensor feature or something else? Or maybe Fan feature!
Additional InformationI should read Fintek F71882F data sheet to solve this strange problem.

If you have a ASUS motherboard 3-pin fans CANNOT be speed controlled. Se any other ASUS thread about it.

Is CPUFAN1 a 4-PIN connector ? Have you tried CPUFAN2 or CPUFAN3 ?

I experienced the same problem when my CPU FAN was connected to CPUFAN1 (4-PIN). Mainboard, P35 Neo2 FR. Try another FAN (3-PIN) connector. Hope this helps.

The same problem then I connect Noctua NF-S12-1200 to NBFAN1 pin on MSI P965 Platinum. On SYSFAN1 I have connected 3 Gembird 12V 0,22 A Fancase2 (http://www.gembird.com/item.aspx?id=3332) fans (Main fan have all 3 wires and others two only power wires that connected together with all three) and all works fine. It's very strange what SpeedFan SYSFAN1 configuration -
PWM 3 Mode - Manual Set PWM
PWM 3 Type - Linear DC mode.
If I set different configuration SpeedFan can't control Germin fans anymore. It's very weird because Germin is DC fans. I suppose that settings must be Manual set RPM and Linear DC mode.
P.S.
Or these settings don't make sense!
P.S.S.
BIOS hardware monitoring disabled.

Are you sure that the NBFAN header is controllable? Did you check with MSI support? Most motherboards only have 2-3 controllable fan headers. The chip used (and also Speedfan) can usually control more fans but if the motherboard maker doesn't use all functions of the chip, you can't do anything except buying a more expensive board.

As norman02us correctly stated, SpeedFan can use features available in hardware monitor chips, but not always those features are enabled by the motherboard manufcturer. Sometimes there are missing wires anc circuitries. Only the manufacturer can say a final word.
