Summary0001734: SpeedFan causes my computer to turn off
DescriptionSpeedFan 4.42 and SpeedFan 4.43 Beta 8 cause my computer to turn off when I first start either of them. Using /NOSMBSCAN does prevent the computer from turning off, but there isn't any fan information; only GPU, HDD, and CPU temperatures are shown.

I'm using a Dell XPS 700 (http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/xps700/en/SM_en/specs.htm). The motherboard model is 0YF432 (as reported by CPU-Z).

Also, I sent a report with ACPI Explorer.

In the help file there is a SMBUS DEBUG procedure. Please, follow it and send me the resulting output. I will fix this issue.

Hello. I see that you executed the SMBDEBUG procedure. The file that you should upload is SMBDEBUG.NFO.

Okay, I extracted the .exe and ran it (with 4.42 already installed), and the program starts up without turning off my computer, but no fan details or controls are present anywhere (including under Configure -> Advanced). :-(

Also, I see "nForce2" in the above SpeedFan output, but I have an nForce4 SLI Intel Edition (Dell 0YF432 REV A02). Not sure if that's relevant or not.

Report sent from beta you sent me.

You can try to run 4.42 from the command line adding the following parameter:

/SLOWDETECT

The powering off is fixed now. I am working to improve support for DELL motherboard. Feel free to contact me to receive a beta.
